Why choose a Certified Hand Therapist (CHT)?

November 03, 2013 at 9:27 PM

Certified Hand Therapists (CHT) are physical therapists or occupational therapists who have passed a hand therapy certification commission board exam and have at least two or more years of hand therapy experience and a minimum of five years of clinical experience in their respective fields. CHTs have better understanding and experience when it comes to treating hand and upper limb conditions.

Ask the referring surgeon, physician, nurse practitioner or physician assistant for a CHT they trust/recommend. You may also try asking friends and family or any physical or occupational therapist you may know. You may also search online reviews (but take them with a grain of salt).
